Where There is Despair

by Joe Bisicchia

Where There is Despair

There was a belief, not fully yours,
that you would heal the world, but
now this, and as the world cries
you cry and you know why

as it hurts so much deep inside
while everyone labeled you as the one
to heal this because you were made
with a mind and the know-how and

as the floor prescribes mindlessness
to erase the pain, the world is as it is—
hurting, and you are as well in despair,
and while you cry within, you decide

you want the depth of the universe,
for it pulls your heart so deep inside,
knowing the pain in front of you, the loss
of hope, and so you knock on the door,

and to heaven you give it, and you receive
the gift of presence, for this is you as you are,
here where you now surrender to start,
where you show up because you believe,

and so, you let it indeed be as made to be,
this, your own provided broken open heart,
for even state-of-the-art machinery trails this,
for no wired treasure chest is wide as this,

and no anguish shall overcome this belief,
for to heaven on high you give it pure as this:
your broken open space where here within
now fits the world set to be held and healed.
