Artist’s Statement

Trees Through Metal by Marilyn Hallett Granzyk

My photographs were taken in some favorite places: Door County, Wisconsin; Maine, and our Lakeview neighborhood in Chicago. Distinctive shapes capture my attention, like the spider web, the hanging metal sculpture on a friend’s porch, and the cairns on a remote beach. I like the ease of taking photographs with my iPhone 7 while on walks with my Golden Retriever. He’s the one who led me to the spider web.

Marilyn Hallett Granzyk is a sometimes artist, photographer, and piano player, who works as an editor on a variety of projects. Her father inspired her love of photography. On family trips around the world, he would disappear with his camera to take pictures of magnificent scenery, children, flowers, and always something amusing.
